danaeris: (eep?)
I did it! I just sent my story into Strange Horizons for consideration. They'll probably reject it, but I FINALLY did it! I'm so proud of myself!

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] londo and [livejournal.com profile] angelovernh for doing some last minute comments that were very helpful!

It's WAY past my bed time.

In other news, every time I use this lj client, and click the "Submit" button, I giggle a little and tell myself, "why, yes, I think I do!"

Notes to the world:

-anyone who is coming to my party is welcome to show up early if they call my cell phone first, and are willing to help set up/shop for party food/etc. I may be running errands on haight street as well that day, which is why you should call my cell to rendezvous.
-I need more driving practice. Anyone with an automatic who is willing to let me drive their car tonight or Wednesday? I could also do tomorrow if absolutely necessary. Free lunch/dinner or other favours are available in return.

Random bits of info you didn't need to know:
-I have random aches all over my body. Maybe from moving furniture around yesterday?
-my magnetic clip on sunglasses seem to be missing. If they're gone, this is the second time, which is NOT ok. They are DAMNED expensive---$120/pair. Maybe this is my hint that it is time to start switching to wearing contacts and cheap-ass sunglasses.

I'm sure there was something else I wanted to post here, but can't for the life of me remember. oh well

For those of you who are REALLY bored and have too much time on their hands...

The wired internship says to include up to three writing samples.

I have one 750 word writing sample about high-energy cosmic rays.
I have one 400 word writing sample about a kidney transporting gadget.

I can't decide what to use for the third slot.
I could...
-use nothing
-->use one of my short Technology Review Prototypes pieces. These are all approx. 150 words. They go something like this: "There's this neat spiffy technology. Here's why you care. Here's why its spiffy. Here's what it does. Here's when its coming out."
-permabit (data storage)
-MIT Rocket Team (new rocket engine design)
-wearable keyboard (new design)
-->use one of my longer Technology Review MIT community section stories
-African Virtual University
-ISN (nanotech thingy at MIT)
-student visa post 9/11 issue.
-->use another of the articles from the SLAC internship:
-one of the student profiles I did for the ERULF interns
-an update on the state of recycling at SLAC
-an update on how the Windows Migration (1998->XP) will work
-an article from a human interest point of view about ergonomics and the ergonomics nurse at SLAC

Anyone have opinions
