We have working ethernet!
OK, granted, we don't have a router so I'm the only one who can use it except when others borrow my laptop, but still. It took a week. That's all. Speakeasy ROCKS.
They also have us on a static IP for the price of a dynamic IP, and if they decide to go to PPPoE in SF, they'll give us a week's notice, at which point we can decide if we want to spend another $10/month for a static IP. w00t!
It requires crossover ethernet cable, however---whatever that is. The cable I have is not. So I can't use it anywhere but the living room because the cable they sent us is real short.

on the downside, our landlady is selling the building. She's showing it this afternoon to her first interested potential buyer. Shit. I knew the month-to-month thing was a bad sign. What happens if she sells it? How easy would it be for them to get rid of us?
