So I finished watching Veronica Mars. Three non-spoiler questions:
(1) Why did the series get cancelled -- anyone know?
(2) Any indication about where they were headed with the various plots and characters?
(3) Any opinions about what would have happened next?

In contrast, I just finished reading V for Vendetta and I'm currently working on reading "The Darkness that Comes Before" by Scott Bakker. Heavy, philosophical epic fantasy. Mm-mm-mmm.

I wish I liked Scott's books better. Scott himself is brilliant, clever, smart, and I have a huge crush on his big shiny brain, and could just listen to him talk for hours.

His books, on the other hand, are just too full of gratuitous unpleasantness. And really? If I wanted to read about the clusterfuck that was the fourth crusade? I'd read about the clusterfuck that was the fourth crusade.

I keep waiting for him to get back to the monk character. Also, to connect more with the less mundane more epic portion of the plot. I mean, not that a massive holy war isn't epic, but the whole consult war across time gods among men thing is just, well, more epic.

But yeah, it is kind of slow reading. I must be feeling really patient right now.

Oh yeah, and I totally want to hump his big shiny brain. He is extremely hot, brilliant, and charismatic. A deadly combination! Kind of reminds me of Neil Gaiman, minus the accent, slightly less cool and lots more intellecual brilliance.

it got cancelled because it never did very well in the ratings. It was always something insanely low like around the 140th watched show in the Nielsens; something like that. It was loved by Whedon and Kevin Smith and worshipped by the people who know that what Whedon and Smith are doing is The Shit That Lasts, the stuff that in a generation people will be looking at as representative of the times. But well, look at how well stuff by Whedon and Smith gets treated now, for the most part; critical acclaim and a complete indifference from most of the public.
