*sigh* finding lodging in London that doesn't suck is hard.

My London

* The B&B in the lower right corner, which is 0.7 km from Lee BR in Zone 3, is only £25, available through May 30.
* The B&B in the west end, which is 0.7 km from Boston Manor in Zone 4, is only £30, available for my whole visit.
* Park House Women's Hostel is near Earl's Court, and on weekdays it is only £36 (weekends it goes up to £42).
* Macdonald House, the only remaining one that hasn't told me if they are available, is £135 for the first four nights, and then £33/night therafter, and it is right next to Kings Cross St Pancras.

I'm wondering how crappy the commute from either of the first two would be. Anyone have any wisdom or thoughts?

We stayed with SWA the way to stay B&B when we were in London, it's quite near Hammersmith Tube station, and wasn't a bad commute into downtown. The prices are quite reasonable, and the folks we stayed with were lovely. We stayed with one of their 'affiliate families', Allison and... I'm blanking on his name R---something. SWA is a network of basically people running do-it-your-self B&Bs with 1 or 2 rooms spare in their house. Quite lovely. Definitely worth checking out their availability. Allison & her Husband are quite geeky, too. She worked on the initial design and rollout of 3G in europe.

Thanks for the recommendation! I will look into it. Too bad their website has no email address -- I will have to call them.

Don't be put off by the coordinator guy.. he's a bit of a technophobe.. but they are legit and good. And I'd wholeheartedly ask for Allison & Ragner again. :D
