Before surgery the zoloft was working great. I mean, even on medication I had bad days, but they were few and far between. But post-surgery, my medication doesn't work at all.

I was on Celexa for a short while, but I found the side effects unacceptable (interference with sexual enjoyment and excessive fatigue/sleep). I had my doctor find me something else and I am now on Wellbutrin (buproprion) as well as Risperdol [sp?] (risperidone) (to smooth out peaks and valleys in mood swings). Wellbutrin has had NO detectable effect on my sexual enjoyment or sleep patterns.

I realize just how dependent I am on these meds whenever I inadvertently forget to take a dose.... I consider the forgetting a sign of how well they're working for me. When I feel so "normal" that I forget I'm on meds..... but then I miss a dose or take one much later than I should, and I'm still fine for 24 hours, but hours # 24-48 I suffer acute depression and sometimes nausea. This has happened twice or so this summer.

FWIW, IIRC Celexa also made me feel very "drunk" when I began taking it. I felt under-the-influence enough to NOT be able to drive.

i was on celexa and off hormonal BCP for a year, and that cleared up the worst of my depression.

Depakote, Desipramine are the other two that I am on.
They work sometimes. The downside is that I am *constantly* tired.
I also really have to depend on [livejournal.com profile] cynan_poly to tell me to eat.

my MD and I decided that I should not take them ever again...all anti-depressants in general...this was mostly do to the side effects I was having...
although I/we have decided to BCP another chance...so we'll see what happens...

I take clonazepam for anxiety, and I really like it. I don't feel any side effects, and when I take it I feel a marked difference in my anxiety level.
