Oh god, now they're going on about how women who dress in revealing clothing deserve to be hit upon, citing a comedian who says that he should dress as a policeman and then get pissed off when people expect him to be a policeman.

Where did my brother go, and who is this man sitting across from me? I want to run far far away.

It's not *that* hard to tell the difference between a woman who wants to be hit on and one who is just wearing provocative clothing. If one can't pick up on the body language, she'll generally let them know very quickly upon approach.

The Comedian's point makes as much sense as most comedians do. Oh I long for the days when standup made cogent points instead of coming up with stupid parallels to support idiocy. George Carlin should slap that guy, whoever he is.

There's a difference between "asking to be hit on" and "pissed when you get hit upon" as well. If I wear stiletto heels and a low-cut shirt, I'm not asking to be hit upon, I'm trying to look sexy. If someone whistles at me, and I get pissed, that's just silly. That doesn't mean I'm "asking to be hit on", it just means I shouldn't be pissed if I am.

That's like coming out of the beauty salon, and having a stranger say "I really like your hairdo," and me saying "fuck off, creep, stop staring at my hair." I didn't go to the beauty salon *in order* to have people compliment my hair, I did it because I wanted nice-looking hair.

It's a subtle difference, but a big one -- the difference between "I'm looking good for me" and "I'm looking good for you".
