Blah. So, our internet connection with Rogers sucks ass.

When we talk to them, they are not helpful.

Anyone in the GTA able to recommend a company that will suck less? We're paying WAY too much per month for a connection this crappy.

I use teksavvy.com. They're run by geeks, and seem to provide good help (in my experience). The biggest limitation is that you have to buy your own modem (about $100).

If you quote my username (entish), I'll get a bit off my bill, though I would recommend them even without that.

i also use teksavvy, as do a dozen of my geek friends. they are teh awesome.

modems are less than that; i've used this one for a while now and it's fine. don't be tempted by the $38 one they sell, it's terrible.

Any idea, though, whether a household of three would want their premium, or their unlimited? I'm not entirely clear on the difference between the two, I'm embarrassed to say.

get the premium - 200GB is a lot of traffic, it's cheaper, and the bandwidth is of better quality because it's connected to two upstream providers instead of one.

As a reference, I used about 66 GB in November, including VOIP and a lot of downloading.

they've had some serious reliability issues in the past, and the "open wifi node" thing hasn't been tested in court - i wouldn't want passersby using my wifi to download kiddy porn.

That's a good point. It's too bad that this is a concern, and that WN has had reliability issues -- I really like the concept.
