I couldn't tell you what MMP is either - and the only "advertising" I've seen has been plastic boulevard banners by the roadside telling me to vote for MMP.
I think you could have a great time if it turns out there was no real advertising for MMP and that "they" are blast-worthy for it. :D
Have read dozens of pedantic articles over the years about mutli-member constituencies and proportional votes in various democracies. Yawn. Australia this, Ireland that, Germany yadda yadda, and for the gods' sake don't do what the Italians and Israelis did. Whatever. Rather read something about Canada today. ;)
