In other news, Poly Camp weekends currently stand thusly:
Date ... Number who can make it / Number who make it their first choice
Aug 17-19: 32 / 23
Aug 31-Sep 3: 27 / 14
Sep 7-9: 34 / 12

I have mixed feelings about this. I feel that scheduling over the DSSG camping weekend could breed ill-feelings within the community. So, I'm not sure that it would be wise to schedule over it... plus that's only a little over two months away; Labour Day or the weekend after would give us a little bit of extra time, which would be pretty darned nice.

Anyway, if you want to voice your opinion, you should vote, because I'll be sitting down and making a decision about the date of the event very soon...

I wonder why people don't like the idea of camping on the long weekend?

I really don't like the idea of conflicting with the DSSG thing, we want to foster co-operation.

Maybe many people have already made plans. A lot of people schedule long weekends far in advance or have prior commitments that always happen on said weekends.

Yes, exactly. And that's also precisely the reason why I'd hate for this to land on the long weekend as a long-term date.

I got the OKay from my mom that I'm free on Labour day weekend (YEA!), and when I looked at my calendar I realized that I'm in Ottawa the Sept 7-9 weekend for my oldest friends wedding.

The other problem with the August 17-19 weekend is that for some of us it means we get home from KG have a weekend to pull ourselves together and do what we need to and then we are gone for the Poly Camp weekend, that's a lot of camping in a really short time.
