So, all of my grad schools want a copy of my resume.

I'm including ALL of my work experience, since they probably want to know about my teaching, with the exception of the position from which I was fired.

But, I have a traditional resume format that fits into one page, and a more dynamic one with point form and lots of detail about my accomplishments in various positions. Which one do you think the admissions committee is likely to prefer? Something really detailed, or something straightforward?

Yeah, I'd go with the detailed version...

For a job, the goal is to keep it short enough so that the first-line reviewers will read it... Not really as much of an issue for a grad school app...

Yeah, you'll more likely live or die on your essays and experience than on the format of your résumé. Just be sure it's not wordy.

I would strongly prefer the straightforward version. In particular, if I am reading several resumes and have only a few minutes to browse them for details, then I do not want to wade through superfluous claptrap. But, note that I am not an academic, and this personality difference might be part of the reason why.

For job applications, the one page is (as you know) normally preferable.

When I did my grad school applications, in which I was fairly successful, I did a more detailed version, though I still tried to keep it as succinct as possible. I wouldn't recommend more than two pages, in any case.
