Sewing machine advice

So there's a sale at a store soon selling this sewing machine for only $60 (a 55% discount).

I know it's not a tried and tested brand (it's Euro-Pro). But I thought it might be a good beginner machine, until I'm good enough to upgrade to something better.

Any sewers have advice? Thoughts?

persephoneplace mentioned recently that a friend of hers is planning on selling quite a few used singer sewing machines in good working order for $35. want me to ask if there's one for you?

Awesome. Would it be possible to find out by 6ish? The sale is at 7 p.m., so if I'm sending Will to get the new one for me or rbowspryte, I'll need to know sooner than that.

It's probably okay for finding out if you like sewing or not. I'd expect to pay 10 times that for a "real" machine, that'll be anything considered robust.
