Did you know that the creator of Dilbert was diagnosed with an incurable condition that makes it impossible for him to speak out loud except under specialized conditions?

This is an true, inspirational blog post by him. Unless he's playing a joke on The World, he has cured himself (Edited to add: at least for the time being). I have goose bumps. You should read it -- especially if you're an English teacher; this would make a great assignment for students.

Sadly, I think, considering the way things have worked in the past for spasmodic dysphonia sufferers (I had come across it before while researching my own neuro issues), him making this announcement 2 days after it happened is jumping the gun on claiming to be 'cured'. Neuro issues don't *work* like that, and though recoveries pop up from time to time, this certainly needs more time.

He doesn't claim to be cured, he claims that he can talk today and states explicitly that he doesn't know whether it is permanent.

Completely amazing.

I've posted it in my journal now.
