Holidays

I have a week off in the holiday season (Dec. 22-Jan 1). I'm contemplating getting my butt to Boston, Ottawa, or Montreal.
(1) Is anyone road tripping or thinking of doing a road trip to one or more of those destinations?
(2) Is anyone at any of those locations able or willing to offer crash space for some portion of a visit to me? To my fellow road trippers (within reason/depending on who they are)?
(3) Who will be able to spend time with me if I were to visit in that time period? I know the holiday seasons are crazy, so the question is highly relevant...

Arisia

The time has come for me to figure out what the hell I'm doing about Arisia. I would very much like to make it there.

(1) Anyone road tripping?
(2) Anyone want a sex-positive roommate?
(3) Anyone able to offer crash space Sunday and/or Monday night after the con? Thursday night before the con? The plane tickets are only $40 cheaper, so it's not enough to make me rent a hotel room for an additional night.
(4) For anyone from Toronto interested in going... flights through Buffalo are only $120-170 USD on Jet Blue depending on flight times and days. The con itself is only $35 USD if you register online before Dec. 31. That includes free food in the con suite. ;) The main hotel is $115/night, and they don't have prices yet for the overflow hotel.
(5) Would anyone be able to drive me to Buffalo airport either Thursday evening or Friday during the day? Or back from Buffalo airport Sunday evening or sometime Monday?

Also trying to make plans for visiting SF in February, so stay tuned for that...

Crash space before/after the con is available with the normal caution that right before the con and until my art is hung in the Art Show, I'm not much fun to be around.

I will be in Ottawa over Christmas period this year, on vacation cause work gives me the week off, and doing SOME stuff, but also not completely busy.

Crash space is available at my place as well. My third floor can sleep several -- it has the floor space for it -- though if there is only one double mattress up there.

3) I'm planning on being in Boston around then too. If you are, poke me and we can get together for lunch or something.

What and when is Arisia?

Arisia is the Boston scifi/fantasy convention, Jan 12-14. 3000 geeks in one place, including many of my long distance lovers, exes, and good friends. I try to make it every year. Kicks the ass of Ad Astra with its arms tied behind its back.

Whoah, so it's like one weekend?

Just wondering 'cause of the "Anyone want to give me a lift to/from?" question.

No offense, hon, but I would not dream of driving to Boston in your truck. The gas would be as expensive as the plane ticket -- if not moreso. Flying is much faster...

Yes, flying is much faster.... as long as your arms don't get tired! *snicker*

No offense taken! I never bought the truck specifically for its fuel economy (or lack thereof...)

By the way, I figured out where my brain was... I was somehow thinking you meant getting a lift to Buffalo NY, in order to take a cheaper flight than those that might leave from Toronto.

Silly me!! LOL

Gilles used to go down to Syracuse NY to fly to Florida, because even with the drive from Kingston to Syracuse, it was that much cheaper a ticket than departing/returning cross-border to Ottawa or Toronto airports.

I will be here in Boston during the holiday season and life should only be slightly crazier than usual. Would love to spend time with you if you show up in the area. :-) Crash space would be available in a pinch (a friend in need is a friend indeed) but it's much too far out to make any firmer commitment than that.

For Arisia, I do have a double room reserved and sure, I'd love to have another sex-positive roommate, but I'd need to check with my current sex-positive roommate first. :-) Also, I have to warn you that she snores, so we might not be a good first choice to room with. But let me know if you would be interested and I will check on my end.

Both Ottawa and Montreal are great winter/Christmas destinations.

Both are beautiful in winter and would be significantly cheaper than Boston. I'm sure you could find some accomodations at either place.

You could wrestle those damn photos from [livejournal.com profile] concordantnexus the hording beast!!

Would you be interested in rooming with a Wolf and a Spryte?

Neither of us have ever been to Arisia and you say so many good things about it, i'm kinda interested in going.
