Wow, I'm in a bitchy mood
Sep. 12th, 2006 01:27 pmSo, many of you know how I feel about Curves, and the fact that their American owner donates large quantities of his money to anti-abortion organizations and abstinence programs -- money gained from the very women he is hurting.
Anyhow, a Curves manager just posted a job ad to the Toronto community. I immediately thought about putting in a snarky comment, but saw that there were already 6 comments, so I clicked to see them... and they were gone. The Curves Manager had deleted the comments and disabled them.
Since she put her email address on the ad, I proceeded to have the following conversation with her. God, I'm a bitch sometimes.
ME:
Regarding this post:
http://community.livejournal.com/toronto/4750818.html
As per the community rules, which you can find here:
http://community.livejournal.com/toronto/profile
9. Do not remove the comment feature from your post
10. Also please do not delete any comments in posts
So, um, what happened to those six comments you deleted... and why is
the comment feature gone?
HER:
I took the comments feature off (no deleting done) because there was posts
commenting my original post - comments which weren't appropriate.
Delete it if you feel the need to turn the comment feature back on -
I'm not posting it to get everyone's opinion on Curves.
But rather trying to open up a job position available in the downtown core.
ME:
There is no such thing as an inappropriate comment, in a livejournal
community. If you want to be free of comments and judgement of
corporate practices, then don't use that sort of venue for advertising
the position.
HER:
Just delete it, then.
Your attitude sucks, as does your 'community'.
ME:
I'm not a moderator, so I can't do that. But I'm sure they will
shortly, if you don't. You've violated the community rules, as clearly
stated on the user info page. I suggest you re-enable the comments and
apologize in an edit to the post, or delete it yourself -- you're only
making your organization look worse than it already does to the types
of people who tend to frequent communities like livejournal.
I'm also really impressed by the maturity of your use of words like
"sucks" and ad hominem attacks on our community, when you are posting
and communicating in a professional capacity. I'm glad that Curves has
you on their side.
With friends like her, who needs enemies?

I am not aware of your attitudes towards Curves (nor do I know anything about the company), although it is apparent that you aren't a fan :-)

Date: 2006-09-13 02:25 pm (UTC)I wouldn't support Curves either, both for their link through Heavin to Pro-Life causes, and for the idea that women can't handle working out in a regular gym, but need to be segregated.
