Hmm, most seem to feel that doing a drastic cut would not be a wise choice.

What about this?

I said trim for split ends, but I think I should also say that consulting someone professional about how to style your hair could be a good idea. I think the two should go hand in hand ... getting rid of split ends and fancying your hair up a bit would never be a bad idea. ;-)

As opposed to a hiar stylist, you need someone with an explicitly executive sense of style. I suggest you ask the most professional people you know what would look good, and ideally, ask some folks in the positon of hiring manager (if you can find some) what they think looks most professional, and what might impact their hiring opinions.

As a professional, I still think she should talk to a professional (i.e. a hair sylist). Hopefully she knows one that she's comfortable already.

Danaeris if you were in town, I would know who you should see!

I can't stress enough that it should be your idea of professional - if it doesn't mesh with your sense of style you'll be uncomfortable and that is the worst option.

That is SO true. I remember when I was graduating from college and I went to a seminar about interviewing and the question "should women wear a skirsuit or a pantsuit?" came up. And the person from career services said that a skirtsuit was better because it was more traditional. But I happen to know that for me personally I just plain do NOT feel professional in a skirt. I totally associate skirts in my mind with weddings and clubbing and parties and not with work. I would feel totally out of place in a skirt and it would shoot my confidence all to hell and would completely negate any possible benefit of it happening to look more traditional. Plus, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to work for the kind of place that wouldn't offer me a job because I failed to look traditional enough!

Yes I think you should do the hair appointment/on-site consultant thing.

I think it's still reasonable to set limits (eg. I want it to look profesional but not have shorter hair than "X" what do you recommend I do with it?)

Usually they will ask you what you wnt and what you are looking for first anyways.
