Ah, the poly experience
Jul. 13th, 2006 10:42 pmOnly in a healthy poly relationship could we have a lovely dinner, long deep conversations, cuddling, hot sex, and then spend time surfing dating sites together. *grin*
In other news, the Canadian government gave me a welcome home gift: My tax refund arrived, and it was more than twice the amount I expected it to be. Woohoo! That gives me cash to cover the spending I'll need to do to get the new apartment in order. :)

Date: 2006-07-14 02:03 pm (UTC)BTW, I'm pretty sure we must know some of the same people, since you have peeps in Boston (I saw Thud commenting in your LJ... I very vaguely know him). Also, I see that you are Blue Star. Thista Minai or Linda Julian ring bells? Vinnie Russo (don't think he was Blue Star, but he was the owner of Arsenic and Old Lace)?

Yeah, we probably do know some of the same people. I lived in Boston up until ten years ago, and did a Pagan radio broadcast there. Thud and I go way back, as well as some folks from EarthSpirit, the old Valley Pagan Web crew, Harvest folk, and others.
And yes, I'm Blue Star... very old school Blue Star at that, and am the elder who brought its practice into this country. Linda and I have known each other for almost 20 years. I vaguely remember Vinnie, but may be confusing him with the owner of Spellbound in New Jersey... no, he wasn't Blue Star, but a fine guy.

Date: 2006-07-14 04:04 pm (UTC)*blinks innocently* How could a pure, virginal gal like me assist you in your difficulty? I don't understand!
Thud I barely know... he has expressed an interest in getting to know me, but the one time I tried to engage him in conversation (at the Diesel social) he ran right over my attempt to talk to him. :( I assume he was distracted by Kaz, who is after all teh hawtness, but nonetheless, it was bad timing and upset me more than a little (at the time).
I lived in Boston 1997-2002, and visit regularly. I have at least one regular lover there. I first became pagan and poly in Boston; I was involved with the MIT Pagan Student Group and the Boston Area Pagan Association. Most of the folks I knew back then who were initiates of a trad were Blue Star... (I think Rickland Powell as well, iirc). Thista was a neophyte at the time.
In San Francisco, I got a little training in the Feri Tradition, but didn't get very far before it became clear that I wasn't ready to focus on this aspect of my life. I was in the midst of an unhealthy relationship with my primary/owner, Richard Aldous, and I found that once it had become unhealthy, it really deadened my connection to the spiritual realm.
Linda I knew relatively well. Good people.
Vinnie is fabulous. IIRC he was trained initially as Gardnerian and Alexandrian, and when I knew him was getting involved with Stregha. Attractive, long-haired gay man.

Thud I barely know...
Thud's loss. We haven't kept in terrific touch, but we were decent friends at the time.

Then you started living there not long after I moved from there to go to university in Joisey. Yes, there's a good Blue Star population there, and for a time, my coven was a very active presence within it. Those were pretty ok days.
Vinnie is fabulous.
I think he and I were once active in a Boston-area Coven Leaders' Support Group, something of a brainchild from a mutual friend who has since gone on to publish some of the finest material on Craft social dynamics. I've actually been giving thought about developing something similar in the TO region, as my Craft social net has changed enough lately that I might be able to find time for such a project. I dunno yet.
On an unrelated note... you've mentioned OKC. There, I'm "UrbanRogue." :)

Date: 2006-07-14 03:04 pm (UTC)I always get more chicks than guys but as you said you get the reverse.
I wish to know more about their matching system than even that info that they provide.
But I use interests A LOT!
I am not interested in teaching a new person about poly or getting involved with someone who has nothing in common and is boring as a frozen dinner. (Not that you are..all your selections seemed to as fantastic as mine)
You have shown that you put a lot of thought into the process as well.
It's fun to get to know new people and the medium has come a far way.
