age/age of consent

So, some of you may know I'm planning on hosting some social events at my suite at Ad Astra.

I'm told that the age of consent in Ontario is 14, except when there is a position of authority involved, in which case it is 18.

Does that mean that that should be the minimum age to attend a kink social, or an erotic science fiction and fantasy reading? I don't expect that any sex or play will happen at these events.

Thoughts and opinions wanted.

I would make it minimum 18. that is pretty much standard for all the 'adult functions' i have attended.

Does AA have a 'legal to drink' sticker they put on badges? You could card anyone who doesn't have one of those.

Definitely minimum age 18. Under that and their parents are still responsible for them, and can/will raise a fuss. If I had children and my 15 year old were to ask to attend, I'd say no, unless I was also attending. Call me cynical, but I just don't trust people where children are involved.

As a mom I second the suggestion to make minimum age 18.

I'd find out if they have a "legal to drink bracelet, sticker, badge or whatever, or if not, you'll have pretty much no choice but to get a volunteer to sit at the door and check people wanting to come in.

There is a difference between "age of concent" the age where being a "minor" ends. And it is the Minor status is used for access to adult materials.

14 works, absolutely - although stupidly while you can fuck at 14 (actually at 12, so long as the other person is within 2 years) you can't buy porn until 18. *shrug* I don't pretend to understand the motivations of our gov't.
