My friend
tunape just made an interesting post about economics and happiness.
Apparently, some recent research shows that when someone experiences an equal gain and loss, the loss affects them more deeply, such that even though they are back to where they are fiscally, emotionally they are worse for the wear.

IIRC,
tunape is currently a Ph.D. student at Harvard in Business of some kind. Also, he's an amazing ballroom dancer. ;)
