PCOS poll

So, I did this poll asking women with PCOS about their sexuality and gender. It got some results I find interesting.

Only three women on my friend's list responded, so I doubt my friends list skewed things. LJ may be more likely to be host to queer, kinky alternachicks, but I'm not convinced that even that can account for these numbers. I think there's SOMETHING going on here, but how big an effect it is could not be told without a real, scientific study.

When asked if they had a somewhat male personality, respondents said:
Yes 53 68.8%
No 24 31.2%

When asked to select all of the following which were true for them, respondents selected:
Sex Drive 42 55.3%
Bi/pansexual 38 50.0%
Gay 8 10.5%
Kink 39 51.3%
Slut 20 26.3%
One of above 14 18.4%
None 14 18.4%

The sex drive is tough, because women are told that they are supposed to have low sex drives, and that may just be a myth of femininity. So, women who are just slightly above average may think they have an abnormally high sex drive.

But, 60% of these women are either bi or gay.
50% are kinky.

I have trouble believing that if I did a survey of a generic LJ community, I would get similar statistics from the women.

Pretty impressive numbers! Here's hoping someone goes forth to study this at some point in the future...

In vaguely related news, my ovaries have been increasingly painful. I'm starting to get concerned... stretching or bending over at an angle can be painful, and just sitting or semi-sitting in bed I still feel some pressure on them. January 23 is very close and very far away.

Also, as of this morning, I had lost more than 1.5 lbs since returning from the holidays. Take that, holiday weight gain!

In completely unrelated news, there have been more complicated shakeups in my life that are so very much in flux that I'm going to wait until they settle before I bother posting about them. Yegads!
