Dear body,

In my universe, a night of more than nine hours solid sleep should leave me feeling well-rested and contented. Instead, I feel tired, anxious, irritable, depressed, and sluggish. What gives?

Dear terrorists,

Your attacks make people want to get even, not concede. You are simply making things worse for yourself, while hurting people who, for the most part, are innocent. Are you sure you want to create the monster you are trying to destroy?

Dear JKR,

Good work on that new book you put out. Loved what you've done with your world. I know being edited can be tough, but keep on telling yourself that its for the best.

Also, you are a wicked woman to torture us so. At least with TV seasons, we only have to wait a year. I am not so naive as to think it will only be a year before the next book shows up. I know its best you take your time and get it right, but don't blame us if we whine at you. You're the one who left us with so many new mysteries!

Any letters you want to write, my friends?

The point of terrorism in the UK is to push the UK populace into attacking domestic muslims, which since they're 30% of the population or so, would border on civil war. It would also create a huge pool of recruits.

The point of the terrorist attacks on the USA was to cause the US to go out and stomp other countries, driving a wedge between the US and Europe, radicalizing the moderate islamic world and hurting borderline islamic governments, and creating a pool of recruits for terrorism.

1 for 2 isn't so bad.

Dear self,

The gym is of no good if you do not go. Your diet is of no good if you do not follow it. I know it sucks, but I thought you loved me more than this. What gives?

Dear terrorists,

You are big, stinky doo-doo heads, in the immortal words of my inner three year old.

Well, let's see, thus far, we've managed to provoke the US into attacking Iraq, thus giving us a vast new pool of recruits and adding a lot of friction to the US alliances.

Then we convinced Spain to back out of Iraq. They were small enough that it won't affect our recruiting/propaganda efforts there, but now whenever a recruit says "what impact do I have on the real world?" we can point as spain and say "look, a dozen of us managed to change the policy of a major nation in the way we wanted to. Even after telling them this was what we were going to try!".

Now we've gotten Israel to be backing out of the Gaza strip... Israel, the spawn of satan itself, humiliated into retreating in the face of our relentless attacks!

And how bout london? With a dozen troops and some basic kitchen chemistry, we caused millions, possibly billions in damage to their country, provoking a backlash that will let us recruit new agents who have british passports so they can strike anywhere in the EU. And we've got thousands of English people demanding that their government concede to our demands that they get out of Iraq -- a perfect answer to anyone who claims Spain isn't a "real country" two paragraphs back. This is the ultimate in asymmetric warfare -- a dozen dedicated agents with minimal training and equipment, changing the course of the second most powerful nation in the world (measuring just military power, and yeah, you could argue that they're number 3 or 4... maybe even 5 if you stretch).

And what are you silly brits going to do to get even? Bomb an arab country? Go for it, we've got an al-jazeera TV crew standing by. Or you could make speeches -- we've even gottn a US senator to make comments that we can take out of context to make them sound like he wants to nuke mecca -- you can't buy that kind of propaganda with a mountain of gold. Or you could implement expensive and ultimately futile security measures, choking your economy, making the slums an even better recruiting place for us. You could put economic sanctions on some random country -- look how well the Iraqi ones worked... Our tools require almost no money, and we managed to divert a mere 6 billion from oil-for-food, so you'll manage to piss off millions without putting a dent in our effectiveness.

We're trying to light off a war to end all wars between your western civilization and our perfect religious world. And everything you've done so far has played right into our hands. Keep it up!

Israel replies to the terrorists...

Actually you stupid fucks you provoked us into nothing. By pulling out of Gaza we are creating a situation in which your hypocritical and moronic attempts to circumvent international law will no longer fly. By leaving Gaza we have ensured that we can ask (and expect support from) the international community every time you come to our state and make war.

Yes, you too you incompetant bastard will now be responsible for every unprovoked attack on human life in Israel. I hope that's what you were looking for.

Always yours,
Israel

I say old boy, after the second World War it's going to take far more than a few tube bombings to frighten us. If the most recent bout is any clue, you're running right out of decent bombers anyway. What, were they on sale at Tesco this week?
