Apr. 8th, 2005 02:27 pmFirst of all: You all rock. Thank you for your kind words and warm fuzzies.
Second of all, you'll have to wait for more details on the events of yesterday as I ought to get some real work done today, and want to take my time with that post. I may get to it later today, MAYBE.
...
Tired. Very excited about Ad Astra!
Feeling relatively attractive, as I discovered last night that I fit into more clothing than I had expected, and my weight is continuing to slowly but surely decline. Being on the diet at Ad Astra will suck, but being this size forever will suck more.
I forgot to bring my makeshift bathing suit for the pool and whirlpool, so on my lunch hour I dragged
pyat to the mall, and while I shopped for a cheapo bathing suit, he looked at coats. I found a nice, plain one for a very reasonable price. The top is a black "tankini," and the bottoms are black hot pants with tiny white polka dots. It's a teeny bit too small, but in that way that some would consider MORE attractive, if you know what I mean. *wink*
Now I am back at work, with 2.5-3.5 hours to go depending on when everyone else leaves by. I can't wait to get to Ad Astra, although I'll have to shower almost immediately. After I've showered, though, watch out, Toronto geekdom!

Just a question

Date: 2005-04-08 09:00 pm (UTC)(2) I have had limited social opportunities since I moved here. I don't have very many friends, and I have no romantic prospects at the moment. Ad Astra is an opportunity to rectify that situation in part.
(3) I HAVE met some people online who will be there, and this is my chance to meet them, get to know them better, or at least put a face to a name.
(3) Other cons are more community and social-focused according to a friend of mine. They are more open to sexual perversity. At Ad Astra, or so I'm told, you can make no assumptions about the attendees being poly, bi, or kinky, whereas I've attended sf cons where the straight/monogamous/vanilla people began wearing buttons so the poly people wouldn't accidentally hit on them because there were SO MANY people at the con who were poly that it was generally safe to assume that someone is. I know of sf cons that have weekend long bdsm parties going on in the hotel concurrent with the con, or several small ones on various nights. I'm told that none of the above is true of Ad Astra, which I find hard to believe. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to it because I can't imagine a con being *that* much less fun.
Right now, on a normal day, my chances of getting laid are basically zero. My chances of socializing are higher now that I know Piet and several others in Hamilton, but still not as high as I like (plus, no offence to them, I want to meet romantic prospects, and none of them are, nor do they move in poly circles).
So, there. Something. That's some of the reasons I'm excited, but I wouldn't assume that I'm THAT much more excited about it than others... I just express it differently than them.
