Hmm, interesting. I remember hearing about a very detailed time travel story going around a few years ago. This is probably it, so thanks for posting the link.

I took a quick look around; the level of detail is pretty impressive, but this is still highly implausible. The clincher for me is that the time traveler doesn't appear to mention 9/11.

It was already seeming pretty bogus, but the part about needing the computer to "update UNIX which dies in 2038" really gave me a brain hernia.
