So fondue options in the bay area:
La Fondue, Saratoga: Top notch, delicious, gourmet fondue. A real experience.
???, Fremont: an imitation La Fondue that is cheaper both in price and in quality, but appropriately so... worth going to if you want the La Fondue experience on a budget
???, San Francisco: A swiss restaurant which also serves fondue
Fondue Fred's, Berkeley: Good if you're craving fondue on a budget and don't own your own pot/don't know how to make your own fondue. Also, a waiter once told a friend of mine that their chocolate fondue is hershey's syrup.
Anything else? Further information on any of the above, or second opinions?

Date: 2004-06-10 04:59 pm (UTC)My favorite fondue place is the Melting Pot. The closest one right now is, I think, in Sacramento, but there's one that will be opening in downtown San Jose in August. I can't wait, and think that I might request that for my birthday dinner from
I really did find it better than La Fondue, but it's pretty much on par with price, and might just be a personal preference thing.
Mmmm...fondue!

Date: 2004-06-10 05:23 pm (UTC)I thought Fondue Fred was so so, and prolly wouldn't go there again.
I've eaten at the Melting Pot in FL. That was really good, but I think La Fondue was better, for the same price range.
I haven't been to any others.

Date: 2004-06-10 06:38 pm (UTC)I second the opinion of Fondue Fred's. Mind you, when I asked the waiter about what liqueur options there were for the chocolate dessert fondue, he looked confused and said, "We don't have anything like that! It's just Hershey's Syrup!" *shudder*
Oh, and the problem with feeding 4 on dinner for 2 at a fondue restaurant... there's never enough of the REAL fondue (the cheese) to go around for even just two people. For that reason,
