i've had the logic, "i'll get it done now; i won't be having much sex for a while" fail spectacularly.
i also don't advise getting it done right before traveling, because 1. traveling is stressful and so is healing a puncture wound 2. you'll be getting exposed to a new repertoire of microbes right when your immune system is working overtime to keep the wound from getting infected and 3. it's nice to be able to go see the person who did the piercing if you have problems.
if you haven't already, read the piercing FAQ online. search on " body piercing FAQ." If you get to the point of looking for a place to get it done, i'd suggest looking at miraculouscreations.com. i've had good experiences with them and so have several of my friends.
