Parsley tea

I remember hearing someone say that parsley tea will induce your period. Is that correct?
If you're pregnant, will it harm the baby? (no this is not about me)

free clinics in the bay area
I had a large packet of info on free clinics in the area and I'm not sure who has it now. Last I heard, [livejournal.com profile] unseelie had dropped it off at Dreamland.

I have a friend who may need info from it. Anyone got it?

Also, anyone have info on free clinics of any kind out in the Concord area?

Parsley does not appear to be an emmenagogue (period inducing), nor an abortive (abortion/miscarrage inducing). It is mainly a digestive aid, though I did find one place that mentions pregnant women should avoid it because it can irritate the kidneys.
Info at : http://www.gardensablaze.com/HerbParsleyMed.htm and http://botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/p/parsle09.html .
It is always wise to be very careful with any kind of herbal preparations when pregnant. While your (hers, whatever, you know what I mean) body may be able to handle something, the baby's may not. And if herbal foo is not prescribed by Someone Who Knows What They're Doing, also be careful. Some things which may seem like a good idea, actually aren't, and may aggravate a condition.

Call San Francisco Sex Information any time their hotline is open (M-F, 3pm-9pm) 415-989-SFSI or 877-472-SFSI and ask them. They should have that info. You can also e-mail them through their website (www.sfsi.org)

Otherwise, call Planned Parenthood Golden Gate (www.ppgg.org) at 800-967-PLAN and they'll probably know.

If both of those channels fail, call the Contra Costa County (http://www.co.contra-costa.ca.us/) and ask for their Department of Health Services. They'll probably be able to tell you.

Hope this helps.

[livejournal.com profile] rosefox finds all sorts of community resource links. She's the first I'd ask about free clinics.

The freeest (count the e's) I know of is the
Berkeley Free Clinic
2339 Durant (Dana)
(510) 644-0425 (listed number)
510.548.2570 and 800.625.4642. (tested numbers)

I know there's something offered by the county of Contra Costa but it's not coming up in my searches. Ask me in a week or so and maybe I'll have found the printed list of addresses.

A search turned up:
http://www.shelterincofccc.org/central.htm

and a few in SF:

Haight Ashbury Free Clinics Inc
558 Clayton St.
San Francisco, CA 94117
Tél : (415) 487-5632
http://www.hafci.org/

St Anthony Free Medical Clinic
105-107 Golden Gate Avenue
San Francisco, CA 94102
Tél : (415) 241-8320
