I've had a weird come-and-go headache for three days now. Not bad enough to impare me (most of the time), it flares up and then goes down to a low throb. Normal acetaminophen didn't seem to make much of a difference.

Anyone have suggestions? This just isn't any fun. :(

Excedrin? *shrug* I use the migraine formula on my headaches and it seems to work, and I get pretty severe/persistent ones.

I find ibuprofen (aka Motrin, Advil) to be very effective on my headaches. Also Aleve is a really good pain reliever.

Water. Slow stretches (like I've described before). Also, stretch out your legs. You're not doing skating as much as you used to, right? A bit of exercise might be good. You can also safely combine Aleve and aspirin. Take one Aleve, and two (or maybe just one less than you normally take, whichever) aspirin, with a good slug of water.
It kind of sounds like muscle-ness. Strech, and water. And Aleve and aspirin to help it along. If aleve isn't easily accessable, go for the ibuprofen (which I'm sure M* has some), and no aspirin.

I second the Excedrin reccomendation (it's magic), though exercise and/or hot showers might help address the cause, rather than the effect. I didn't think Aleve was likely to help with headache...

It might be a neck problem - I started going to a chiropractor and my recurring headaches went away.

Dehydration?

A major cause of headaches in the summer is dehydration. If you are not drinking eight or more glasses of water today in addition to other beverages, you are not drinking enough. If your urine is not colorless, you are not drinking enough. Drink more water.

If you have changed the amount of caffeine you consume lately, slowly adjust back to previous levels. Caffeine withdrawal causes headaches, and so does a sudden jump in caffeine levels. Caffeine is also dehydrating.

I actually more or less agree with your recommendation, but feel compelled to quibble with a detail: That eight-glasses-a-day thing is a misinterpretation of the medical guidelines. They actually say you should get eight cups of water per day as a baseline, but some of that can come from food or other drinks; but then you have to increase the amount of water as your food or drinks include things like caffeine or sugar. In any case, eight cups is still probably more than is necessary if you're drinking things like milk or unsweetened juices. (I lately have been liking to mix juice with seltzer, to make it even less sweet. Not sure why I have an anti-sweet-tooth all of a sudden, when I usually like sugary stuff...)
