To those who are new:

Welcome to my livejournal! If I haven't friended you yet, I'd deeply appreciate a comment telling me who you are and where we met so I can figure out who you are!

I mostly journal for the following reasons:

  • to update my friends on my life
  • looking for advice (these posts should be approached with caution apparently)
  • to share something amusing I saw
  • because I'm being introspective
  • because I'm depressed

The latter two often go together, and alas the last one happens more often than I would like, but don't think I'm depressed all the time; I'm not. My life is actually going remarkably well right now. My hormones are just resettling themselves right now and its a bit of a rollercoaster.

I have a number of friends groups which you may or may not be added to already. Feel free to comment requesting to be added to one of them. Most requests will be honored. Posts to a particular group usually have that group name in the subject line.

  • Overshare - One for those who are open minded about poly and kink and bdsm and not easily squicked; this one will sometimes include juicy tidbits from my love/sex life, but also sometimes things you may not have wanted to know about being a girl, or somesuch.
  • Pagan - For those who are pagan, open minded and interested in paganism, or into the occult, or has a spirituality which is similar to pagan spirituality (ie. you choose not to take on the label but people keep on trying to give it to you, damn them)
  • Writers - People who are into writing who can give advice or be sympathetic about the trials of being a writer
  • Metaprogramming - this group is NOT open to everyone and content is strictly confidential. This is where I discuss the inner workings of my mind and try to work my issues out. OK, so I do some of that on my main friends list too. But this is where I post about the underlying mechanics of how I got my more deeply imprinted programming and what I'm doing to fix it. Email me if you're interested in this group and if I decide I'm comfortable with you in it, I may even add you. If you're not comfortable with drug use, this is not the group for you.
  • SFBA - where I post social announcements and stuff particular to the SFBA folk.

So yeah. Introduce yourself or ask to be added to specific groups. I'll look forward to getting to know you all better!

I'm definitely up for SFBA, and I'm fairly sure that I can handle
"Overshare". I'll let you know if I'm wrong about that. %-}

P.S.: Pending a post from Kai saying that your real email is back
up, I have some offline-type email I'd like to send you.

I'd be interested in all of them except "Pagan". Modulo your comfort level, naturally.

Um, if I'm not in them yet, all 4? I think I'm more or less into all of the topics covered :) No such thing as overshare with me :)
And if you're not sure about how comfortable I am with drug use, remind me to talk about my take on that next time I'm scritching you (or possibly ravaging you *wry g*)

I'm actually curious about your thoughts on everything except SFBA, given that I'm in Boston ;-)
I'm obviously not pagan, but I promise to be as quiet as you wish me to be -- I have a great deal of interest in how other people and followers of other paths seek the Divine in their lives, and how they think about it.

I will, of course, not be offended if you decide you don't want me on any of them ;-) It's your journal, and your life.

Hi, I'm Adam, and it doesn't yet look like I'm on your friend's list. We've met a number of times at a number of locations thus far, but the first time was at your apartment at your Sin afterparty ~April...

You can feel free to add me to whatever, as long as you don't post non-LJ-cut pictures that would get me into trouble at work (ie nudity, but not much else)...

This is TomKat, Rhianna's sweetie. You can add me to all (except Metaprogramming of course). Thank you, have nice day.

I'm fine with being on whatever you care to put me on. I mean, if I really didn't want to read what you write, I wouldn't keep you on my Minimal filter (which is only about five or six people, and is all that I read on LJ anymore -- I don't have time to read the journals of everyone I might like to).

*hug* I'd also like to make time, at some point, to sit and have a long talk about the "programming" idea... I get the feeling that you think about social interactions in some similar ways to how I do, but there are definitely some subtle differences, so I sometimes catch myself reading things, thinking, "Oh, yeah, nodnod, that really makes sen-- what the heck?!" It's... interesting. In the sense of the Chinese Historian's Curse. *g*

hmm, now you've got me all curious. We shall have to chat at some point about this so you can elaborate on that topic.

Well, the most general description of this -- which fails to capture the whole I'm sure -- is that you often seem to be in a similar headspace to where I was a couple years ago. Which may have less to do with age than the transition from student to working adult (with both the changes in responsibility, and the complete remaking of one's intellectual environment), the move to a new city, etc. (Incidentally, I noticed the "waiting period" that has been mentioned elsewhere; for me it was about eight or nine months, and I was very nearly at the point of moving back east; I might have, if I hadn't been so broke.)

In any case, stuff you'll say will often start reminding me of the way I think, but then take a very dark turn, which still may remind me of me, but in a very uncomfortable way, because I've managed to pull myself out of that tarry sucking blackness, and I don't like thinking too hard about what it was like to be there...

And then there are other cases where you have an entirely new interpretation of something. Like, you didn't mean quite what I expected when you invoked the mask metaphor.

I'd probably have to review LOT of things you've said over the last month to get at all the things that have contributed to this impression. I often let them slide, for lack of time or because I feel like drawing the comparison would be more narcissistic than useful. I'm kind of a babble-bunny as things are; and if I said everything that passed through my head, I'd never shut up and let other people have their say...

Hello girly, :)

I'm interested in whatever you'd like to share with me. I only read at home, so everything's pretty safe.

So yes, you've probably wondered who I am on your list.
I left SF shortly before you moved there, but used to spend much time over at Funkenstein when it was still HRA. Also the guy who dragged [livejournal.com profile] wurmfood and [livejournal.com profile] battle_hampster down to the Bay Area.

Now live in DC, though I'll be out there for the wedding.

Writers and SFBA please!

Overshare - One for those who are open minded about poly and kink and bdsm and not easily squicked;

Don't remember if I am in this one or not...if I am not can you throw me into that group...since I pretty much fit all those catagories (poly, bdsm, kink and not easily squicked)

You should add me to your friends list because you should keep in touch with us old MIT people. :) I would be fine in the overshare, pagan, and writers groups if you want to add me.
