Where is Danae?
Sep. 16th, 2007 12:21 amI love you all. I have not forgotten that many of you have asked to get together and I would really LIKE to get together.
But as of Thursday, I stopped making ANY social plans. I need to get myself settled in school and caught up on my research assistantship, or I may lose the RA or get bad grades. Given that I'm incurring considerable debt to be in this program, I do NOT want to fuck up.
So, where am I? Right now I'm in Hamilton at my parents' place buried in readings. My head is swimming, I've read so much in the past four days, and there's plenty more to read.
I have ~6 readings I can actually do left to read for my classes next week (I already did 7, and there are 3 in textbooks that haven't arrived in the mail yet; I might be able to access those through other libraries) (the longest readings are already done, for the most part).
I also have to start reading a newspaper every day (I chose the Star because it is the more local one of the three based in Toronto) and watch the occasional newscast.
In addition to all this, by 2 p.m. Thursday I have to read an anthology of academic papers on bibliometrics that is about 140 pages long, and I also have to read one other paper from my course reader (which granted is a reading for week 6, so it saves me some work in the future).
Oh, and by Tuesday the 25, I need to do a civic mapping of Parkdale.
My work is cut out for me. I may not even be at the social this week, or if I am, I will show up, get dinner, and then leave.
The good news is that even if it is consistently like this, the term is only 12 weeks long. So, only 11 more weeks to go!
