Jan. 18th, 2007 11:15 pmSpent the evening reading over stuff from Spryte and then wrote her an email. After that I signed up for a second Au Pair site, and beefed up my profile on both sites, responded to the french family that already emailed me, and made some changes to my professional website.
I also ended up having a chat over IM with![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
happypete and someone else he is friends with. During the conversation he mentioned the idea of getting an Au Pair for him and his wife.
I don't know how serious he is, and this is of course in the future, since they haven't had their second child yet. But although it wouldn't accomplish the goal of getting me to Europe, there are advantages to finding a fannish family that wants an Au Pair. Maybe I'm foolish, but it seems to me that while being an Au Pair, I would have the spare time to develop my freelance career to the point where I could freelance full time. Also, a period of concentrated freelancing might give my resume that last little push I need to start being the FIRST choice rather than SECOND for nifty jobs.
So, it's a thought that's turning about in my head.
Pete, btw, lives near DC, about 1-2 hours out from DC's suburbs. He and his wife have one kid and two horses, and the space for a live-in Au Pair.
Today, btw, should not have happened, or perhaps just needs a do-over.technodemon was unexpectedly let go from his job, which sucks both for him and for me and Carina, since in a few weeks, he won't be able to make his contribution towards rent. And someone that could be considered to be, by some loose definition, in the immediate poly family, was taken off life support and is in the process of dying. That's just a few of the icky things that are going on in me and my friends' lives.
Bad stuff, go away! Don't come back another day!
