Can't sleep, cats will claw me
Dec. 25th, 2006 11:49 amI spoke too soon... I thought my cold was getting better, but instead, it took a turn for the worse last night.
I've never had a cold quite like this. There doesn't seem to be THAT much mucus, but my throat is so sore that I'm having to take my inhalor at intervals.
Also, normally my lymph nodes behind my ears swell up and get sore when I'm successfully fighting something nasty off. This time, though, I feel like my entire head's lymphatic system is on fire. Particularly, a line forming a wide sort of U shape from ear to upper throat to ear. My ears NEVER hurt like this.
The paranoid in me says: gee, hope I'm not going to get tonsillitis. It would suck while I'm on vacation.
The rational in me says: that's unlikely. Don't worry about it; you'll be fine.
Last night I struggled with sleep a great deal. Not only was I having occasional trouble breathing and coughing, but like I said, my throat and ears were 'on fire.' Even worse,
lovelyblackrose's kitten (only 8 months, but he looks bigger than our 1.5 year kitties at Elysium... go figure) kept on walking on me, and if I moved my foot, knee or hand even a little, attacking me. It got to the point where I was scared to try to sleep because I might get clawed. Hence, the LJ post title.
I managed to sleep a little more later in the morning, and then when
lovelyblackrose got up, she clipped the kittens claws (phew!) and got me some Dayquil (hallellujah!).
When she came back from dropping her parental units at the airport, she mothered me like nuts, and cooked me a tomato and cheese omelette, with bacon, and gave me a citrus C monster odwalla, and more dayquil and nyquil, and some fruit which she ordered me to eat while she went out again. She is a sweetie pie!
EDIT at 4 p.m.
I just napped all afternoon, and am feeling somewhat better. Nonetheless, I'm cautious. I don't want to get an ear infection that would make it tough to travel home, and damn it, I want to enjoy my visit!
She will be back in a few hours. In the meantime I plan to putter around and perhaps crack open her copy of Kushiel's Scion (drool).
