FACT:
I prefer to work on a couch than at a desk. In fact, throughout both high school and college, I rarely worked at a desk when given the choice; I'd normally choose to work on a couch or bed instead.
FACT:
Working on the couch in the living room is not a functional solution as I cannot avoid the distractions of my housemates or the temptation of the television.
FACT:
Besides the fact that I am more likely to give into taking a nap when in bed, the ergonomics of a bed are less than ideal; I'm already noticing that my tendency to slouch is getting worse because I've been spending so much time sitting slouched in bed or on a couch.
I've been looking very vaguely at desks for something that makes a more efficient use of space than the one I've got, and prefereably, for one that would fit my chair better. But I'm beginning to wonder if that's really the right solution. Maybe what I really need is to make room for a loveseat, or a chair with a comfortable footstool, with a well situated table next to it. I mean, what's the value in having a desk when I'm using a laptop that sits on my lap anyway, and I hate sitting at my desk? I just use it to dump paperwork.
The problem with setting up a loveseat in that corner of my room is of course the ergonomics. I'm concerned that continuing to sit however I'm comfortable on a couch and/or loveseat will continue this trend towards slouching, and be bad for me in the long run, damaging my back and ruining my posture more than it is already ruined.
Any brilliant suggestions?
