So, I uploaded an image to the polycamp server. It isn't used in any of the webpages or anything like that, but I need PayPal to be able to access it.

*snip a whole bunch of stuff*

When I upload text changes, they propagate immediately. So why isn't this? Is there something important I'm missing?

Thanks for your input everyone. With your assistance I was able to fix it. Yay!

The server's probably configured to not accept outside requests for images. That's a pretty common tactic to prevent image poaching.

Nope, that's not the problem, as one can fetch the banner image from her frontpage without an appropriate referrer.

Thanks for the help! That isn't what was wrong but I managed to fix it, so all is well. :)

The second error indicates with a high likelihood that either the image is called something other than "heartleaves.jpg" (such as heartleaves.JPG, or something) OR that it's in a subdirectory or folder rather than the top-level place where PaymentBanner.jpg is.

The first error indicates that the image is there, but the permissions are set incorrectly. You need to select the image on the server and change it to world-readable; how to do this varies depending on what program you use to upload the image and what kind of server it is and stuff. If you tell us the program or procedure you use to upload things, we should be able to figure out more specific instructions for you.

You are absolutely right on both counts. The second image had the jpg capitalized (damn caps sensitive applications), and the first one didn't have the permissions set properly. I thought it might be something like that, but until you said it the way you did I couldn't for the life of me figure how to fix it. Thanks to you, it is fixed! Yay!

I will add to the above that you need to make sure that your ftp transfer is set to Binary instead of as Ascii. That might *not* be the problem, but a text change that has been transferred by Ascii is perfectly fine, while an image will wind up broken. Some servers will show it as a few thousand Ascii characters, some will give permissions errors as above.

The '404 Not Found while trying...blah' bit is because it's trying to find a customized 404 page that the server believes should be there for it to display. That's a server set up issue, and minor, but your how should be able to tell you what it's looking for.
