Yesterday my Momma took me to zellers and bought me three of those cloth shelf things you hang from the closet pole. When I have time again I'll be emptying out my desk-dresser into those cloth shelves, and trying to sell the desk-dresser.

Today, [livejournal.com profile] polywolf and I hunted down the dream desk I posted about the other day and dropped it off, unassembled, at my place. It was the last non-floor model in the western end of the GTA. We had to go to the northern Brampton Staples to get it, and in person (as opposed to over the internet where it was sold out), it cost $80 instead of $50... but it was still a steal.

I've also pretty much finished cleaning out my hard drive and am ready to transfer my data to the new laptop, wipe this one, and try to sell it.

Once I've sold the old laptop and got the new one set up, once I've got the dresser-desk sold and replaced with the cloth shelves and a real desk, I get to buy myself a nice wireless ergonomic keyboard and mouse so that I don't get carpal tunnel. It's all very exciting!

I want to play with these items, set them up, etc. But instead, I march on with the readings.

For tomorrow, I have a reading I can't do because the textbook hasn't arrived, and of course I'm supposed to have read the daily newspapers but I haven't because the subscription I'm signed up for has not shown up yet.

For Wednesday, I have three chapters to read from a book [livejournal.com profile] darkestembrace is picking up from Robarts (another university's library) for me to use until the copy I bought arrives in the mail. She is a life saver.

For Thursday at 2, I have to read that book for the RAship; I'd estimate I have about 105 pages left to read. On the closing stretch, it is looking very much possible that I will either reach that goal, or come close to it. I might have to deprive myself of sleep Wednesday night (much like I am tonight), but I think I may achieve this goal. Here's hoping...

if you don't mind missing out on the wireless part, this keyboard: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=043 is pure awesomeness. it has a reverse incline, which is way nicer than the normal "ergo" keyboards. even better, they have it at http://sonnam.com/ on college street for $35 - it's normally over $60 :)

There's actually a wireless version of it.

So, have you been using it, and if so, are you still happy with it a few weeks later? How bad are your wrist problems?

i've been using one at home and one at work - at home for over a year, at work for six monthsish. my writsts have bad spurs on both of them and i've developped arthritis from a bad fall six months ago. neither has gotten worse, which i attribute to the awesome keyboard.

you're welcome to try it sometime, though we won't be settled into the new place til next weekendish.

I went to Best Buy, after researching ergonomic keyboards and mice online, and took a look at the available options. It seems that this keyboard and the mouse that goes with it is by far the most ergonomic option available without going to really weird configurations that require some time for adjustment/retraining.

I managed to score the mouse+keyboard, both wireless, for only $135 + tax and $2.50 shipping, since Best Buy was having an online sale this past weekend. I feel like I got a good, but not great deal. Since the mouse is only available in wireless form, and it costs $100 on its own, I paid the same price I would have buying the wired keyboard from sonnam and the mouse at full price elsewhere. So, it worked out.

I'll have to let you know how it works out for me in terms of using it. :)

Depending on how old your laptop is and how much you're asking for it, I might be interested... I don't have room in my new condo to set up my desktop system. Let me know :)
