Dancing, Technology, and PolyCamp
Jul. 5th, 2007 04:44 pmLast night
rbowspryte and I had our first lesson with the Queer Salsa group at U of T.
GODS I love dancing. It felt so good to use my body like that that I decided to walk all the way home. I'm starting the Lindy Hop lessons later this month too.
After the lesson someone stopped me and said they have advanced lessons. I explained that since I'm learning to lead, those wouldn't make sense for me. Made me feel good though.
I've figured out what I'm going to spend most of my cash on at this point, but I can't spend it until I get confirmation that my switch to EI went through, because if it doesn't, I need to save all this money for living expenses until OSAP comes through.
13" 2.16 GHz
2 GB memory
120 GB hard drive
Double-layer SuperDrive (can read and burn CDs and DVDs)
AppleCare, eventually
8GB Nano iPod
+ Belkin TuneTalk Stereo
+ extra USB battery pack
(why? I can get the iPod for only $70 after rebates because of a deal Apple is offering for students -- the computer is actually discounted too. I chose the Nano instead of the full-blown iPod because when using iPods for audio recording, the non-flash memory hard drive types have a defrag issue that just doesn't work. I chose the Belkin audio recorder add on because it allows you to plug in a USB charging device. Since it couldn't last the day at a conference without a recharge, this is key)
no printer, at least for now, because I can just use the printers at Ryerson
Eventually, I'll be replacing my alarm clock iPod thingy with a newer, smaller one
If I decide to get a lapdesk thingy, the Lapinator
And, PolyCamp:
We just got the first registration from a group I DON'T know. Squee! We're at 9 adults, one teenager, and one preteen right now. If you've been thinking about registering, you should do so!
I'm super excited! It's going to be awesome. :)
I'm in a good mood today.
