Mixed week
Mar. 11th, 2007 11:04 pmIt's been a mixed week.
On the one hand, I had a great date with the Spryte, and had a blast playing games this weekend and hanging out with both my sweeties and others.
I also am almost done with my kitty hat!

I'm done with the main hat, one ear flap, and a third done with one i-cord. So, just one earflap and i-cord to go, and then the kitty ears, and then I'm done done done! Yay! Just in time for spring, which is kinda what I figured. *wry grin* But it feels good to have made so much progress.
On the other hand, a lot of bad, stressful things have happened. My cellphone is completely dead. My laptop is too, although Apple has agreed to replace my charger 'just this once'. The charger has not yet arrived, but I have been able to use Spyte/Wolf's laptop, and their phones, to do the necessary work.
Wednesday night I spent the night in the hospital with the Spryte, who is feeling mostly but not all the way better.
Saturday night we got in a car accident. It was the other guy's fault. No people were hurt, but we believe that the other car was totaled. Efforts to get a rental car, a mechanic, or to report the accident were foiled and we came home grumpy and frustrated.
There was, however, some really hot playtime Friday night, and today the weather was just dang gorgeous! :)
Tomorrow I have to function at a high level and finish the last article I'm writing for XTRA until I go off sickness benefit (for which I will hopefully be approved). After that, I have one more article I'm obligated to write for an unknown market, and then I'm free of writing obligations until sickness benefit ends. It can't be soon enough.
Overall, I feel that the good outweighs the bad. But the stress of working on the article without my own equipment, and several bad things happening that were both stressful and delayed my start on the article, still weighs on me. I will be a much happier cabbit once this article is put to bed and I can move on to other matters.
In other news, my insomnia is back, probably because I'm going off the Effexor. Also, my brain is functioning more clearly than it has in ages and ages. I believe that both the lower stress levels and the lower Effexor levels could be having an effect on this.
That was a very rambling update. Sorry. And now, to bed with book 2 of Promethea in hand, a comic that
rbowspryte has started me on. Fun times!
p.s. the cool thing about this hat is not only do I love the hat itself, but I have learned several new skills doing it, including knitting in the round on circular needles, on double pointed needles, picking up from a cast on edge, altering a pattern when the gauge is not right, and knitting i-cord. It was also my first use of seed stitch in an actual project as opposed to on a practice swatch. I'm super-pleased with the results.
rbowspryte says that the colour of the hat brings out my eyes, making them almost look purple. Cool!
