So, top of the list is without question Return of the Ghostbusters. The whole thing has an amazingly high production value considering it's a fan film. Really, you'll be surprised, amused, and entertained:

Lara Croft: Tears of the Dragon
I only saw the first half or so of this before the DVD players started acting up, but I was very impressed by what I saw. Again, wow; these fan films are amazing! I found the script to be lacking in comparison to the ghostbusters film, however.

Back Issues
This short is adorable. There were a few parts which didn't work for me, but by and large, the acting and script was very good. It's about a comic book geek (inker, fan, and comic store employee) who is given an ultimatum by his girlfriend, to whom he has just proposed: her, or the comic books.

Batman's Gonna Get Shot in the Face
This one is a short, cute, irreverent look at Batman as a member of the Justice League. Animation is cute but not great, script is hilarious.

Soul Searcher
This looks really cool but the DVD player didn't love us, so I didn't get to see it. Sadness, since it isn't available for free!

It's weird being at a convention surrouned by my kind of people, but knowing absolutely no one. I get this sense of exhilirating excitement because the con atmosphere has so many positive associations of fun... kind of like Pavlov's dog salivating at the ringing bell, even when there's no meat.
Of course, comics are only somewhat my domain; until recently I didn't read them at all, and if a movie or tv show wasn't made about it, I probably haven't heard of it. Still, there's enough overlap with the general fan community that it hardly matters. For instance, I had a conversation with someone at the bar about Rendezous with Rama, which I'm currently reading.
Anywho, waaaaay past my bedtime. nini!
