So, in the US a lot of people get tested anonymously because health insurance companies are eeeevil.
Is there a good reason to get tested anonymously in Canada, or are we relatively safe from discrimination for getting tested frequently? Also, what does OHIP cover in this regard?
If you've gone to an anonymous testing clinic in the hamilton or toronto area, where did you go, did they do the full batch, and were you happy with the service there (how much did it cost)?

abortion post: comments unscreened
Mar. 2nd, 2005 03:22 pmHey guys,
New comments will still be screened but I will unscreen as I read them this time.
The delay in unscreening the existing ones was partly due to my desire for people to respond without first reading what others wrote, and in part due to me being really busy and really crazy and/or sleepy on alternate days, possibly depending on the phase of the moon.
A response to a few things based on the comments:
My impression is that nearly everyone agrees that once a baby reaches 20 weeks and can be brought to term in a preemie unit, that it is a real human baby. I'm not sure everyone thinks that the baby at that point should have a legal right to live which trumps the woman's right to not have the baby in her, but most seem to think of it as a living human baby and not a fetus or "clump of cells" at that point.
There are several lines. There's a line I draw, past which I would carry the baby to term/one more month/week even if I didn't want it, and there's a line I draw wherein I definitely don't -- and a grey area in between. There's the line wherein I'd think poorly of a woman who didn't, or a woman who didn't feel at least a little guilty for not doing it. There's the line I draw where I believe an abortion shouldn't be legally allowed except in extreme circumstances.
Talking about a "line" is a little extreme, when in fact, its a spectrum. The only time when you need to draw a line is when you actually have to make a decision for yourself, or when you're trying to decide what you think the law should be. When you draw the legal line in your head, it's usually based on the concept of playing it safe. Pro-Life folks play it safe for the fetus/baby, and Pro-Choice folks play it safe for the woman's right to choose.

I have a job
Mar. 2nd, 2005 04:37 pmThey're writing up an offer as I type, and I should receive it sometime by the end of tomorrow. So, assuming I like the offer, which I probably will, I have a full-time job.
The sad thing is, I should be dancing in the snow, but instead I feel like I have stomach acid. I was more excited about getting the job Saturday than I am today -- probably primarily because of my current mood, which is anxious for reasons unrelated to the job offer.
