Positives:

I love my life
I fit into my khakis again! yay for weight loss!

Negatives:

This is the third day in a row my stomach has hurt, with the pain developing into nausea if I exert too much.
I didn't sign out of AIM at home before I left the house, and now I can't sign on at work. I'm especially annoyed by this because I enjoy chatting with people on AIM, and in the past when I've done that, when I logged in elsewhere it just logged out my OTHER session. Instead, it won't let me sign on here. Grr.

So. I have two options.

Option 1:

$325
Visit Boston starting Aug. 25 or 26. (sunday or Monday). Fly back late Friday. Get my affairs in order, bring back essentials with me.
Visit Maryland for Intercon XVII in October on a one way ticket, drive back to Boston with MIT contingent and lariel. Grab a U-Haul, grab my stuff and chrisla's stuff. Travel across the country.

Option 2:

$110
Convert my existing one way to Boston into a one way to Maryland for Intercon XVII in October. Drive back to Boston with MIT contingent and lariel. Grab a U-Haul, grab my stuff and chrisla's stuff. Travel across the country.

Opinions? Anyone planning on going to Intercon XVII? Anyone have any better ideas?

The day gets better but weirder...

So I stop by the secretary's desk to ask her a question, and we decide to go to the photographer's office to see if her schedule is posted on her door in order to help resolve this question. On our way back from the office, we pass the Public Affairs Office. One of the women in there is on the phone and grabs us.

"Channel Five is at the gate."

"What?!"

"Channel Five is at the gate, right now, with a camera crew."

"Who are they here to see?"

"They don't have a contact. They want to take pictures of the gallery."

Puzzled and baffled, we return to our little hallway and grab our boss, who serendipitously is wearing a suit today (and luckily is just back from a conference in Amsterdam). He smooths down his hair and heads over to the gate to meet them, after admitting that he also has no idea why they are here, especially without a word of warning.

On my way back into my little cubicle, the Adult in charge of the Stanford house I was staying in stops me. "I hear you moved out."
I explain it to him, and also the fact that I couldn't get a refund on the unused weeks.

He asks me if his daughters can sublet my room for a week, enabling me to recuperate some of my costs. I say, "Sure, if its ok with Moira, my roommate!"

So there you go. I might be getting a week of the two extra weeks back. It's something.

So yeah. Weird. But good.
